JOB DESCRIPTION
Position/Title: Regional Wellness Center (RWC) Director
Reports To: RWC Board of Directors
Evaluated By: ELC Superintendent
Supervises: All Regional Wellness Center Staff
Job Goals: To successfully plan, market, organize & direct the operations of the Regional Wellness Center through comprehensive recreation, wellness & fitness programs. To assure timely, professional and sensitive response to customers and to promote the services offered. To direct the financial and human resource functions of the Regional Wellness Center to assure the financial health of the RWC and effective, safe, and efficient utilization of employees.
Performance Responsibilities:

Be able to determine the financial capacities and financial constraints of the RWC while being responsible and accountable for the overall financial health of the RWC.

Develop, recommend, and monitor the RWC budget and prepares and presents regular and year end financial, usage, and other pertinent reports to the RWC Board of Directors.

Promote and seek partnerships and collaborations with area employers and organizations to increase RWC membership, programs, and facility usage.

Direct the marketing and promotional efforts of the RWC including a comprehensive ongoing membership campaign.

Develop and implement programs that benefit all age groups and interests to meet the community’s needs for health, wellness, fitness and recreation. Implement programs for school age users that will provide opportunities for those not involved in interscholastic athletics.

Administer and evaluate the job performances of all RWC employees. Screen applicants and recommend new hires, as well as, personnel transfers, promotions, disciplinary actions, and terminations to the ELC Superintendent consistent with contracts, policies, and practices to ensure a fully staffed and effective organizational unit.

Set work schedules for the employees of the RWC in order to best maximize the available financial resources.

Administer, coordinate, and monitor scheduling of the RWC and the activities and events offered to derive maximum use of the facility.

Communicate and interpret the RWC’s mission statement, strategic goals and policies to establish direction and to obtain understanding and commitment by the employees.

Develop and implement recommendations regarding organizational structure, staffing and training to accomplish approved program goals through the most effective and efficient use of available resources. Ensure an ongoing employee staff development and training.

Recommend the selection and purchase of equipment and supplies.

Provide guidance and recommendations to the RWC Board of Directors relating to policies and operations.

Responsible for overseeing the solicitation and submitting of program grants in a timely manner.

Promote positive community relations and direct the ongoing fundraising campaign and fundraising activities for the RWC.

Works cooperatively with the management of the IANG to coordinate facility usage and resources.

Serve as a consultant to the ELC Physical Education and Health staff in order to assure maximum usage by the students of the ELC School District, especially those students not involved in interscholastic activities.

Be responsible for the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures for the RWC.

Aggressively solicit special events to be held in the RWC facility.

Other duties as assigned by the RWC Board of Directors and/or ELC Superintendent..
Requirements
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university with a major in Business Administration, Marketing, Recreation, or a related field. A minimum of two years experience in the areas of marketing, managing the work of others, and maintaining effective relationships is required. A minimum of three years experience in a progressively responsible recreation/wellness/fitness position is preferred. A master’s degree may be substituted for two years experience. Four years of experience may be substituted for the educational requirements.
