English Language Arts Teacher 2026-27 School Year

Job Summary: Deliver standards-based English Language Arts instruction that advances student literacy in reading, writing, speaking, and language. Foster a positive learning environment and work collaboratively with staff and families to support student growth and achievement.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide high-quality instruction in reading, writing, speaking, and language to support the academic and literacy development of middle school students

• Foster a positive and engaging learning environment, implementing district curriculum aligned to Iowa Core Standards.

• Plan and deliver engaging ELA instruction aligned to Iowa Core Standards and district curriculum

• Develop students’ skills in reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary, and communication

• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students

• Assess student learning and monitor literacy growth using formative and summative measures

• Establish and maintain a positive classroom culture that supports student engagement and behavior

• Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities

• Participate in team meetings, professional learning communities (PLCs), and professional development

• Support students in developing organizational, study, and critical thinking skills

• Maintain accurate student records and comply with district, state, and federal requirements
