Regular School Board Meeting

The Estherville Lincoln Central Board of Education held its regular meeting on Monday, December 16, 2013 at 5:15 P.M. in the high school library. Board members present were: Jodie Greig, President; Kathy Miller-Cornwall, Vice President; Nancy Anderson, Duane Schnell, Mike Karels..   Others present were: Tara Paul Superintendent, Kate Woods, Board Secretary/Treasurer, Shane Kalous; Elementary Principal, Mike Tiedeman- EDN, Allison Young, Holly Sindt, Denise Laaveg
CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL                                     President Greig called the regular meeting to order at  5:15 p.m. Board members present were, N. Anderson, Schnell, Cornwall, Karels.
AGENDA APPROVAL                                                       Motion by Karels, second by Anderson to approve the as presented.
Motion carried 5-0.
RECOGNITION OF VISITORS                                       President Greig welcomed all those in attendance and had visitors introduce themselves.
PUBLIC INPUT                                                                   There was none.
CONSENT AGENDA                                                          Motion by Schnell, second by Karels to approve the consent Agenda as presented.
                                                                                                Motion carried 5-0.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS                                                
 Board Policies – 403.1 – 403.8                                       Motion by  Anderson, second by Schnell to approve Board Policies 403.1 – 403.8.
                                                                                                Motion carried 5-0.            
NEW BUSINESS                                                                
Early Retirement Plan                                                        Motion by Schnell, second by Miller-Cornwall to approve the Early Retirement Plan for the 2013-14 school year with the stipulation that we do not look at an early retirement plan again until December 2015 for the 2016-17 school year (FY17 ) OR if unforeseen financial need arises prior to FY17.   The Board reserves the right to reevaluate if the need arises for management fund budget purposes.  Motion carried 5-0.
Board Policies 404 to 406.6                                              1st Reading, no action.
Building Process/Information                                           Informational – update on building project including a projection from Piper Jaffrey  regarding possible funding scenarios.             

ADJOURNMENT                Motion by  Schnell, second by Karels, to adjourn the meeting at 6:10p.m.   Motion carried 5-0.
