SCHOOL BOARD MEETING

The Estherville Lincoln Central Board of Education held its regular meeting on Monday, October 15, 2012 at 5:15 P.M. in the High School Media Center. Board members present were:  Jodie Greig, President, Mike Karels, Vice President; Duane Schnell, Kathy Cornwall, Nancy Anderson.  Others present were: Tara Paul, Superintendent; Kate Woods, Board Secretary/Treasurer, Mike Tiedeman- EDN, Frank Christensen, HS Principal; Brad Leonard, Activities Director; Deb Lenertz, MS Principal; Justin Bouse, Elementary Principal; Bob Grems, RWC Director; Lili Jensen, Tara Ries, Kelly Thelen. 

 

CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL                                              President Greig called the regular meeting to order at 5:15 p.m.  Board members present were:  Karels, Schnell, Anderson, Miller-Cornwall. Absent:  Schiltz, McCoy

AGENDA APPROVAL                                                            Motion by Karels, second by Schnell to approve the agenda with the following changes: delete under New Business – Dark Fiber Lease and add Appointments, Depositories and Limits.

Motion carried 5-0.

RECOGNITION OF VISITORS                                               President Greig welcomed all those in attendance and had visitors introduce themselves.

PUBLIC INPUT                                                                       There was none.

CONSENT AGENDA                                                              Motion by Anderson, second by Schnell, to approve the consent Agenda as presented.

                                                                                                    Mr. Lee Evans – MS Boys Basketball Coach – Year 1 - $ 1,300.

                                                                                                    Ms. Jaclyn Clow – HS Basketball Cheerleader Sponsor – Year 1 - $500.

                                                                                                    Ms. Margaret Gebel – Nutrition Aide – 4hrs/day - $9.00/hr.

                                                                                                    Ms. Kassandra Chavez – Nutrition Aide – 2.5hrs/day - $8.75/hr.

                                                                                                    Ms. Rosie Wolfe – Increase $9.44 - $9.94/hr.

HIGHLIGHTS                                                                         MS Proper Group – Deb Lenertz had a short presentation the Prosper Program.

FINANCES                                                                              Reports were informational. Board discussed the Childcare Center            financial   report                                                                                   at             length and

                                                                                                set a work session on October 29, 2012 at 7:00pm.

REPORTS/INFORMATION                                                     Administrator reports were informational.

Board Policies – 200 Series(Set3)                                            Informational- 2nd reading of the 200 Series. Board Policy Series 209.1-209.7 and

Board Policy 507.6 – Student Insurance.

New Business

Board Policy 200 Series(Set 4)                                                                1st Reading of Board Policy 210.1 – 215.1E1

Set Public Hearing Date – Early Start Date                                               Motion by Karels, second by Schnell to set the public hearing for the Early Start Date

                                                                                                for the 2013-14 school year on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 5:10pm.

                                                                                                Motion carried 5-0

Certified Enrollment Update                                                    Superintendent Paul updated the board on the certified enrollment numbers,                  certification is due today. Numbers will be finalized by next meeting.  

President Greig announced that after adjournment the board would meet in an exempt session to discuss negotiations strategy.

Adjournment – Motion by Schnell, second by Anderson to adjourn the meeting at 6:49pm. Motion carried 5-0. The next regular meeting will be November 19, 2012.
