The Estherville Lincoln Central Board of Education held its regular meeting on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 5:15 P.M. in the High School Library.   Board members present were:   Jodie Greig, President; Kathy Miller-Cornwall, Vice President; Nancy Anderson, Mike Karels, Duane Schnell. Others present were: Kate Woods, Board Secretary/Treasurer, David McCaulley; MS Principal, Frank Christensen, Alt HS/Curriculum Director; Brad Leonard, HS Principal; Shane Kalous, MS Principal; Mike Tidemann – EDN, Jason Kollasch, Robert Grems – RWC Director; Ed Funston – KILR(5:18)





CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL                                              President Greig called the regular meeting to order at 5:15 p.m.  Board members present were, N. Anderson, Karels, Miller-Cornwall, Schnell

AGENDA APPROVAL                                                            Motion by Karels, second by Schnell to approve the agenda with additions to the hires, Kyle Grems and Nancy McNee and new business Shive Hattery Schematics.

Motion carried 5-0

RECOGNITION OF VISITORS                                               President Greig welcomed all those in attendance and had visitors introduce themselves.

PUBLIC INPUT                                                                       There was none.

CONSENT AGENDA                                                              Motion by Schnell, second by Cornwall to approve the consent agenda as presented.

                                                                                                                Motion carried 5-0.

                                                                                                Items approved under the consent agenda are as follows:


Hires –  Megan Anderson, Freshman Girls Basketball, Step 1 – $1,950; Arielle Olsen, JV girls basketball, Step 1 – $2,320;  Tamra Flynn, Elementary Guidance, MA Step 10; Amanda Laue, YOGA Instructor – RWC, $15/class; Keija Evans, 8th Grade Volleyball, Step 7 - $1,750; Ryan Wurtz , MS Boys Track, Step 1- $1,350; Jean Herrick, Drama Director, Step5 – $ 2,350; Samuel Beernink, MS Wrestling, Step 1 -$1,350; Sonja Christensen, Football Cheer Sponsor – Step 1 - $500, Kyle Grems – 9th Grade Boys Basketball – Step 2 - $1,950; Nancy McNee, ESL – MA 16, Step 10 - $48,490

Resignations – Alicia Haack, 5-12 ESL; Nicole Riley – Elementary TA


Highlights                                                                                Shive-Hattery presented the Project Milestone Schedule and Proposed Schematic Design.


Reports/Information                                                                Administrators reports were informational.


UNFINISHED BUSINESS                                                       None.



2014-15 City of Estherville Memorandum of Agreements       Motion by Karels, second by Anderson to approve the annual agreements

                                                                                                with the City of Estherville regarding shared facilities.

                                                                                                Motion carried 5-0.


Policies – 1st Reading                                                               No action – review of policies 408.2,408.3,409.5,409.7


AYP and ACT Data                                                                  Superintendent Paul shared the AYP and ACT data from last year’s testing.


Shive Hattery Schematics                                                         Motion by Anderson, second by Schnell to approve moving forward with Option C schematics by Shive-Hattery.

                                                                                                Motion carried 5-0.


Suggestions for items to be included on next month’s agenda: Board Policies, IA Assessment Numbers, Piper-Jaffrey



Adjournment - Motion by Anderson, second by Karels to adjourn the meeting at 6:37pm.
