SCHOOL BOARD MEETING

The Estherville Lincoln Central Board of Education held its regular meeting on Monday July 20, 2015 at 5:15 P.M. in the High School Media Center.  Board members present were:  Kathy Cornwall,Vice- President; Mike Karels, Nancy Anderson.  Others present were:  Tara Paul, Superintendent; Kate Woods, Board Secretary/Treasurer, Amy Peterson- Estherville News

 

REGULAR MEETING

CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL                                              Vice President Cornwall called the regular meeting to order at 5:20p.m.  Board members present were Karels, Anderson, Kathy Miller-Cornwall.  Absent – Schnell, Greig.

AGENDA APPROVAL                                                            Motion by Karels, second by Anderson to approve the agenda with the addition of 9.8 adult lunch price. 

Motion carried 3-0.

RECOGNITION OF VISITORS                                               Vice President Cornwall welcomed all those in attendance and had visitors introduce themselves.

PUBLIC INPUT                                                                       None

CONSENT AGENDA                                                              Motion by Karels, second by Anderson to approve the consent Agenda as presented.

                                                                                                                  Motion carried 3-0.

Hires – Ms. Sara Lutz, Demoney Teacher Associate Sub, $8.50/hr; Ms. Christine Hooper, MS Guidance Counselor, MA Step 1; Ms Holly Edlin, 5-12 ELL, BA Step 1; Ms. Mary Winter, HS Teacher Associate; Mr. Ryan Wagner, MS Computer Apps Teacher, BA Step10; Ms. Kirsten Natterstad, Life Guard, $7.25/hr.; Mr. Ryan Wagner, Varsity Asst. Unfinished Business

Policy Series 414                                                                     3rd and Final Reading of the 414 – Classified Employee Vacations and Leaves of Absence.  Motion by Anderson, second by Karels.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

New Business

Set Public Hearing for Instructional Support Levy                   Motion by Karels, second by Anderson to set a public hearing for Monday, August 17 at 5:10pm. 

                                                                                                Motion carried 3-0.

 

Bus Bids                                                                                  Motion by Anderson, second by Karels to approve the Thomas Bus Company bid of $84,745.05 for a new bus.

                                                                                                Motion carried 3-0.

 

Youth Services Agreement                                                       Motion by Anderson, second by Karels to approve the 28E agreement with youth services(Forest Ridge) for the 2015-16 school year. Motion carried 3-0.

 

Upper Des Moines Agreements FY 16                                     Motion by Karels, second by Anderson to approve the 2015-16 4 Year Old Preschool and Lunch Agreements.  Motion carried 3-0.

                                                                                               

2015-16 Handbooks                                                                Motion by Karels, second by Anderson to approve the changes to the Elementary, Middle School and High School handbooks for the 2015-16 school year. Motion carried 3-0.

 

Policies – Series 500 Students-Policies 500-501.16                 No Action – 1st Reading

 

Adult Lunch Price                                                                    Motion by Karels, second by Anderson to raise the adult price to $3.35 for the FY 16 school year. Motion carried 3-0.

 

Adjournment                                                                           Motion by Anderson, second by Karels to adjourn the meeting at 5:45p.m.  Motion carried 3-0.
