Regular Meeting
The Estherville Lincoln Central Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting on Monday, June 21, 2021 at 5:15pm in the High School Media Center. Board members present were Tony Condon; President, Gordon Juhl, Jeff Soper; Vice President, Duane Schnell, Sandy Fandel. Others present were: Tara Paul, Superintendent; Kate Woods, Board Secretary/Treasurer, Connie Humble and Shane Kalous. Via Zoom - Stephanie Wheatley, Megan Miller, Dave Swartz-EDN.
Call to Order/Roll Call President Condon called the meeting to order at 5:15pm. Board members present were
Juhl, Soper, Schnell and Fandel
Agenda Approval Motion by Fandel, second by Schnell to approve the agenda with the addition of two hires -
Lizbeth Leal, Aaron Reetz and one resignation - Cindy Fisher. Motion carried 5-0.
Public Input None
Consent Agenda Motion by Soper, second by Juhl to approve the consent agenda as presented.
Motion carried 5-0.

Board Policy Section 402 No Action – Reading 2
New Business
Audit Proposal Motion by Schnell, second by Juhl, to approve the 3 year proposal from Williams & Co.,PC for audit services. Motion carried 5-0.
School Start and End Times Motion by Fandel, second by Schnell, to set the school start and end times for school year 2021-22 as presented: Demoney - 8:10-3:20, Middle School - 8:10 - 3:30, High School - 8:10 - 3:30, Motion carried 5-0.
Closed Session Motion by Schnell, Pursuant to Chapter 21 of the Iowa Code, I move that the ELC Community School Board move into closed session for the purpose of evaluating the professional competency of an individual whose appointment, hiring, performance, or discharge is being considered when necessary to prevent needless and irreparable injury to that individual’s reputation and that individual requests a closed session. 2nd to the Motion - Fandel. Motion carried 5-0.
In closed session: 5:43PM. Out of closed session: 6:48PM
Action from Closed Session - Motion by Condon, seconded by Schnell to approve the Superintendent’s three year contract with a total package increase of 3.51%. Motion carried: 5-0.
Adjournment – Motion by Soper, second by Juhl to adjourn the meeting at 7:09pm. Motion carried 5-0. The next regular meeting will be July 19, 2021 at 5:15pm.
