                                                                   WORK SESSION MINUTES

The Estherville Lincoln Central Board of Education held a board work session on Monday, January 10, 2022 at 5:15pm in the High School Library/Media Center. Board members present were:  Tony Condon, President, Sandy Fandel, Kathy Beernink, and Jeff Soper.   Others present were: Tara Paul, Superintendent, Kate Woods, Board Secretary/Treasurer, Brad Nelson, Jason Kollasch (left 6:36pm)


Work Session - 5:15pm


Call to Order/Roll Call                                                    President Condon called the work session to order at 5:15pm.  Board members present were Beernink, Fandel, and Soper. Absent - Juhl


Agenda Approval                                                              Motion by Fandel, second by Soper to approve the agenda as presented, moving Facilities Planning before Board Goals.  Motion carried 4-0.


Public Input                                                                        None



Facilities Planning                                                       Superintendent Paul shared the 2016-21 Facility Maintenance

                                                                                                Plan with the board.  Jason Kollasch, Maintenance Director,

                                                                                                updated the board on Projects at the High School that will

                                                                                                need to be done in the near future, such as the fire alarm panel,

                                                                                                bathroom, locker room updates, LED lighting, roof repairs,

asbestos tile removal.  Storage is still an issue. The parking lot project will begin this spring. The Board discussed updating the ventilation system using ESSER III funds if feasible.  Discussion was held on updating the Little Theatre, use of ILCC fine arts facility and the need for ELC to

have an adequate facility for its fine arts department. The Board also reviewed resources available for the projects.  Superintendent Paul will update the Facility Maintenance Plan for Board to review at the next meeting.

Board Goals                                                                        Discussion was held on setting board goals that align with the

                                                                                                Iowa Standards for School Leaders.  After reviewing other

                                                                                                District’s goals, the Board decided on goals for themselves

                                                                                                and Superintendent Paul will write them up for their review at

                                                                                                the next meeting.






Adjournment – Motion by Soper, second by Fandel to adjourn the meeting at 7:21pm.    Motion carried 4-0.  The next regular meeting will be January 17, 2022 at 5:15pm in the High School Library.
