Items for Discussion and Information
Bus Routes and In-Town Shuttle Consolidation - Rick Gebel explained the bus route stops. Yvette Clabaugh (parent) spoke about following the guidelines in the Code of Iowa regarding distance from schools. Board felt that legal requirements need to be met and Mr. Gebel should make sure that they are. It did not appear adding another route and driver would be necessary.
Board Policy 905.1 – Community Use of School Facilities –
Superintendent Paul included a copy of the District’s board policy as well as policies from other districts. Steven Danielson, Community Band Member, addressed his concerns with enforcing the current policy. The Community Band is a not for profit and could not afford to pay the fees as outlined in the policy. Brenda Marks, Community Band Member, also felt that the Community Band would have to leave Estherville if they had to pay those fees. The board reviewed other district’s policies and would like to review Policy 905.1 at a future date.
Regional Wellness Center 24/7 – The RWC is on the brink of implementing a 24/7 system. Bob Grems updated the board on the process.
Reflections on the first 3 months of superintendency in the areas of Instructional Leadership, Finance, Technology and Community Involvement/Relationships. Board felt that community involvement was good. Accessible, listens to the issues. Like the Saturday radio spot light.
Work Session ended 7:14pm.
